Kereru Pair – Custom Wedding Date

$90.00

New Zealand’s only endemic pigeon, the kereru, with its distinctive wingbeats, is a keystone species in New Zealand forests – crucial to the dispersal of many native plant seeds. Strictly vegetarian, they love to gorge on ripe fruit, but they will also strip plants of their leaves, buds and flowers. During breeding season, males can be seen doing display flights, at the beginning of a nesting cycle.

Your Bang’n kereru pair is designed and made in New Zealand. Constructed from weathering steel, your kereru pair will weather naturally, and settle into your landscape over time – forming a beautiful rusty patina.

Constructed with a custom wedding date, this gift means the happy couple will be reminded of their wedding day for years to come. After selecting ‘proceed to checkout’ add the wedding date you would like on the product in the ‘order notes’ box. We can also add mounting holes, if required, to allow it to be screwed in, but it will still remain functional as a hammer in product.

Dimensions:

  • Head to Tail – 335mm
  • Branch – 440mm
  • Text Height – 30mm

Description

New Zealand has been a geographically isolated island nation for many millions of years. This isolation, and a lack of native land mammals, lead to the evolution of the unique array of bird species that call New Zealand home. Many of these species have suffered from the introduction of mammalian predators, such as stoats, rats, possums and cats.

Your purchase of a Bang’n bird helps to ensure that the native species of New Zealand stay in the forefront of our minds, in all regions of New Zealand. As you enjoy your Bang’n bird settling into your landscape, spend some time reflecting on what you might be able to do to ensure that our surviving species can flourish as they once did.
